Digital Dentistry
We are pushing the envelope at all times. We have invested in the best modern technology for patient care.
We work closely with industry partners, we work as Key Opinion Leaders with Dentsply Sirona. We use the Primescan, Primemill and Formlabs digital technologies. We take a silly amount of photographs and have bought way too many cameras.
We practice impressionless dentistry to produce accurate digital clinical information. Alongside this, we are able to design, produce and fit a wide range of advanced restorations in a single visit. More comfort, less time and great dentistry.
We are experts in digital dentistry and photography. We love 3-D printing.
We have travelled the world and learnt from the best. We have had the opportunity to both teach and learn.
We work with the best digital labs, technicians and artists in the world. We create aesthetic and functional smiles with a Digital Smile Design to roadmap and deliver dentistry at the edge of what is possible.
We are dental nerds.
What Is Digital Dentistry?
In simple terms, digital dentistry means using advanced technology – scanners, 3D printers, milling machines, and specialist software – to plan and deliver dental treatment more precisely, more comfortably, and often more quickly than traditional methods allow.
For you as a patient, the biggest difference is this: better results, less hassle. No more gooey impressions. No more waiting weeks for a lab to make your crown. No more guesswork. Everything is planned digitally before we even pick up an instrument, so we know exactly what we’re aiming for – and so do you.
Our Digital Scanning – Goodbye Impressions
If you’ve ever had a dental impression taken (those trays filled with gloopy material), you’ll be very happy to hear we don’t do that anymore. Instead, we use the Primescan digital scanner from Dentsply Sirona. It’s a small handheld camera that captures incredibly detailed 3D images of your teeth in seconds.
It’s faster, more comfortable, and far more accurate than traditional impressions. We can show you the scan on screen straight away – you can see your own teeth in 3D, which is actually quite fascinating (even if you’re not a dental nerd like us).
Same-Day Crowns, Veneers and Restorations
This is where it all comes together. Once we’ve scanned your teeth, we use specialist design software to create your crown, inlay, onlay, or veneer right here on screen. You can see the design taking shape and we can adjust it until it’s perfect.
Then we send the design to our in-house Primemill milling unit, which carves your restoration from a block of high-quality ceramic in about 15 to 20 minutes. We try it in, make any final adjustments, and bond it to your tooth. All in one appointment.
No temporary crown. No second visit. No waiting. Just really precise, beautiful dentistry delivered while you’re still in the chair. We genuinely get excited every time we mill a restoration – watching a block of ceramic become a perfect tooth never gets old.
3D Printing in Dentistry
We use our Formlabs 3D printers for a whole range of applications – from creating surgical guides for dental implant placement to printing models for smile design planning. 3D printing lets us create things with a level of precision that simply wasn’t possible a few years ago.
For implant cases, we can plan the exact position of each implant digitally and then print a guide that snaps onto your teeth and directs the drill to precisely the right spot. It makes the surgery faster, more predictable, and more comfortable. This is the kind of thing that gets us out of bed in the morning (seriously).
Digital Smile Design
For patients considering a smile makeover – whether that’s porcelain veneers, bonding, or a combination of treatments – we use Digital Smile Design to plan everything before we start.
We take detailed photographs and scans, then design your new smile digitally. You get to see what the end result will look like before any treatment begins. We can make adjustments together, try different options, and make sure you’re completely happy with the plan. It takes the guesswork out of cosmetic dentistry and means there are no surprises – just a smile you’ve already approved.
Digital Photography
We take a lot of photographs. Like, a lot. And yes, we may have bought too many cameras (we admitted that already). But there’s a reason for it – detailed clinical photography helps us plan treatment better, communicate more clearly with labs and specialists, track how your treatment is progressing, and show you exactly what we’re seeing.
It also means we have incredible before-and-after records, which our patients love. There’s nothing quite like seeing your own transformation side by side.
Why Does All This Technology Matter?
We’re not interested in technology for technology’s sake. Every piece of kit we invest in has to pass one test: does it make things better for our patients? Better outcomes, better comfort, better experience. If it doesn’t tick those boxes, we’re not interested.
The digital workflow we’ve built means fewer appointments, less time in the chair, more precise results, and a much more comfortable experience overall. That’s why we’ve invested so heavily in it, and why we continue to push forward with new techniques and tools.
Want to See It in Action?
We love showing people what we can do. If you’re curious about how digital dentistry could help with your treatment, or you just want to see a crown being milled (it’s genuinely cool), book a consultation and we’ll take you through it. We warned you – we’re dental nerds, and we love talking about this stuff.
