Coming to see us should be the easy part of your day. We are at 1 Forbes Street, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2, D02 FN53 — a few minutes from the DART, walkable from the city centre, and easy enough to drive to once you know where to leave the car.
One important note first, because it catches people out: we are not the practice in the IFSC. If you remember us from Mayor Street, please read the second section below before you set off — you would have a twenty-minute walk on your hands otherwise.
Where exactly is Docklands Dental?
We are on Forbes Street, just off Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, on the south side of the river in Dublin 2.

See us on Google Maps • Get directions to our door
Honestly, the single most useful thing on this page is that eircode. Put D02 FN53 into Google Maps, Apple Maps or your car’s satnav and it will bring you to our door — no street numbers to squint at, no guessing which end of the quay we are on. If you only take one thing from this page, take that.
Where is the new hygiene unit?
Our hygiene unit is Unit 40 Forbes Street, in the same building as the clinic at 1 Forbes Street — it is an expansion of our hygiene services in Grand Canal Dock, not a separate practice. For directions to the unit itself use Eircode D02 PP49; for the main clinic use D02 FN53. Everything else — phone, email and online booking — is unchanged.
Are you the dental practice at the NCI in the IFSC?
Not any more, and this is worth explaining properly because we know it confuses people.
A clinic opened on Mayor Square in the IFSC in 2013 as part of Docklands Dental, and it did well — it won Best New Practice in Ireland at the Irish Dental Awards. In 2024 that location became ISCD, the Institute of Specialist and Cosmetic Dentistry, a dedicated specialist referral clinic. ISCD and Docklands Dental are now two separate practices. We work closely together and we refer patients there for specialist treatment, but they are not us and we are not them.
So: if you are coming to see the Docklands Dental team for general, cosmetic or restorative care, you want Forbes Street in Dublin 2, not Mayor Street in Dublin 1. If you have been referred for oral surgery, complex implant work or endodontics, your appointment may genuinely be at ISCD in the IFSC — but whoever referred you will have told you that, and it will say so on your appointment letter. There is more detail on our page about ISCD and the IFSC clinic.
If you are ever unsure which building you are meant to be standing in, ring us on 01 636 0192 and we will sort it out in about ten seconds.
How do I get to you on the DART?
Grand Canal Dock is the station you want, and we are a short walk from it. Come out of the station, head towards the water, and you are into the Docklands within a couple of minutes.
This is how most of our patients arrive, and it is the option we would recommend if you are coming from anywhere on the DART line — it drops you far closer than driving does, and you are not thinking about a car park while you are in the chair.
What about the Luas, the bus, or walking?
Walking from the city centre takes about fifteen minutes. From Trinity College or Pearse Street, follow the south quays east along Sir John Rogerson’s Quay and Forbes Street comes up on your right.
For the Luas, the Red Line runs along the north side of the river, so the quayside stops are a short walk from us across the Samuel Beckett Bridge — the white harp-shaped one. It is a nice walk on a good day and a fairly bracing one on a bad one.
Plenty of bus routes run along the quays on both sides of the river. And if you cycle, the canal and the quays will both bring you to the door.
Where can I park?
There is paid on-street parking around Sir John Rogerson’s Quay and the surrounding streets, plus two underground car parks within walking distance.
We are going to be straight with you here rather than print something that goes out of date. Parking in this part of Dublin 2 changes — rates change, spaces come and go, and roadworks appear. So rather than quote you a car park and an hourly rate that might be wrong by the time you read this, ring us on 01 636 0192 when you book and ask. Reception will tell you what is actually working well that week. It is a thirty-second phone call that saves people a lot of circling.
If you are coming for a longer appointment — a smile makeover planning session, say, or a same-day crown where you are with us for a couple of hours — it is worth asking about parking specifically, because the options that suit a half-hour visit are not always the ones that suit a half-day.
When are you open?
We are open Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 8.30pm, and Friday, 7.30am to 5pm. We are closed at weekends.
We deliberately start early. A lot of our patients work in the Docklands and would rather come in before the day gets going than try to carve an hour out of the middle of it. If none of our hours work for you, tell us when booking and we will do what we can.
Coming to see us?
If you are booking a first appointment, or you are standing on a quay somewhere wondering which way to walk, just give us a ring. No pressure, no hard sell, just a conversation — and directions if you need them.
Before you come in, you can meet our dental team, check our fees on the price list, or read more about Docklands Dental, our practice in Grand Canal Dock.
