Here’s an honest, up-to-date breakdown of what dental implants cost in Dublin in 2026 — the real all-in numbers, what’s included in the price, and why quotes across the city vary so much.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Ireland?

Let’s get straight to it. A single dental implant at Docklands Dental costs between €3,000 and €3,500, all in — the implant itself, the abutment (the connector piece), and the crown on top.

We know that’s a wide range, so here’s how it breaks down at Docklands Dental:

  • Single dental implant: €3,000 – €3,500 (surgical placement €1,650 + porcelain crown €1,350; the crown is €1,700 for an anterior tooth in a complex case)
  • All-on-4 (full arch): from €12,000 to €18,000

The surgical placement is carried out at ISCD (the Institute of Specialist and Cosmetic Dentistry) by specialist oral surgeon Dr Marie O’Neill; the planning, the abutment and the porcelain crown are done here at Docklands Dental.

You can see our full price list here. We update it regularly because we believe you deserve to know what you’re paying before you walk through the door.

What’s Actually Included in the Price?

This is where things get tricky with other clinics. Some will quote you €1,500 for an “implant” — but that’s just the screw. You still need the abutment, the crown, the CT scan, and sometimes a bone graft. Suddenly that €1,500 is €4,000.

At Docklands Dental, when we quote you a price, it includes:

  • The implant (we use premium implant systems)
  • The abutment
  • The final porcelain crown
  • All follow-up appointments

The consultation is not part of the implant fee and is charged separately, and we tell you what it costs up front. Any 3D CT scan needed for planning is included in that consultation fee — it is never charged on its own. Our fees are on our price list. We think that’s how it should be.

What Affects the Price of Dental Implants?

1. How Many Teeth You’re Replacing

Obviously, replacing one tooth costs less than replacing several. But here’s the good news — if you’re replacing multiple teeth, you don’t always need one implant per tooth. An implant-supported bridge can replace 2-3 teeth with just one or two implants, which brings the per-tooth cost down significantly.

2. Bone Grafting

If you’ve been missing a tooth for a while, the bone underneath can shrink. Sometimes we need to build that bone back up before placing an implant. A bone graft adds €500 to €1,500 to the total cost, and a sinus lift €800 to €2,500. We’ll know if you need one after your CT scan.

3. The Type of Restoration

A single crown on an implant is the simplest option. But if you’re looking at a full arch replacement (like All-on-4), the restoration is more complex — and that’s reflected in the price. The upside? All-on-4 gives you a completely fixed set of teeth that look and feel natural.

4. The Implant System Used

Not all implants are created equal. We use premium implant systems with decades of clinical research behind them. Could we use cheaper implants and charge less? Sure. But we wouldn’t sleep well at night. This is something that’s going to be in your jaw for the rest of your life — we think it’s worth using the best.

Dental Implants vs Other Options: Cost Comparison

We get it — implants aren’t cheap. So how do they stack up against alternatives? These are our own fees from our price list:

  • Dental bridge: €895 per unit, so a three-unit bridge is €2,685 (but it requires grinding down the healthy teeth either side and typically lasts 10-15 years)
  • Denture: the lowest upfront cost, quoted individually after an assessment (needs replacing every 5-7 years, can be uncomfortable)
  • Single implant: €3,000 — €3,500 (lasts 20+ years with proper care, no damage to other teeth)

When you do the maths over 20 years, implants often work out as the most cost-effective option. A bridge might need replacing twice in that time. An implant? It’s a one-and-done solution for most patients.

Can I Finance My Dental Implants?

Yes, absolutely. Look, we know dental implants are a significant investment. That’s why we offer flexible payment plans to spread the cost. We work with you to find a monthly payment that fits your budget.

Many patients are surprised at how manageable it becomes when it’s broken into monthly payments. Get in touch and we’ll walk you through the options — no pressure, no hard sell, just a conversation about what works for you.

What About Getting Dental Implants Abroad?

We’d be lying if we said we don’t get asked about this. Dental tourism — particularly to Turkey and Hungary — is popular because the headline prices are lower. We are not going to put a figure on the gap: it varies enormously by clinic and by what the quote actually includes.

Here’s our honest take: some clinics abroad do excellent work. But there are real risks to consider:

  • Follow-up care: Implants need monitoring. If something goes wrong 6 months later, you’re flying back or starting from scratch here
  • No continuity of care: Your dentist at home knows your full history. A clinic abroad doesn’t
  • Variable standards: Regulations differ by country. The implant system used may not be one we can easily work with if repairs are needed
  • Hidden costs: Flights, hotels, time off work, potential revision surgery — these add up quickly

We’ve seen patients come to us after dental tourism experiences that didn’t go to plan. Fixing those cases is often more expensive than having the implants done here in the first place. It’s your decision, of course — just go in with your eyes open.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Implants in Ireland?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the answer is frustrating: most Irish dental insurance plans don’t cover the full cost of implants. However, they often cover parts of the process.

Here’s the general picture:

  • VHI, Laya, Irish Life: Many plans will contribute towards the crown (the visible part on top of the implant) under their “major dental” benefit. This typically covers €200-€500 depending on your plan level.
  • Tax relief: Implant treatment can qualify for medical expenses tax relief in Ireland at the standard rate of 20% — Revenue’s non-routine list names crowns and the bone grafting or augmentation carried out to place an implant. Your dentist completes a Form Med 2, which is a receipt you keep rather than the claim form; you claim through Revenue’s myAccount, and you have four years to do it.
  • PRSI dental benefit: If you have enough PRSI contributions, you may qualify for a free dental examination and some subsidised treatments, though implants themselves aren’t directly covered.

We always recommend checking your specific policy before treatment. Our team can provide the itemised breakdown your insurer needs to process the claim.

Why Prices Vary So Much Between Dublin Clinics

At Docklands Dental a single implant is €3,000 to €3,500, all in — implant, abutment and crown. Across the rest of Dublin you’ll see quotes from around €1,800, which is typically a placement-only fee with the abutment and crown excluded, up to €5,500 for complex cases needing bone grafting. That’s a huge range, and most of the gap is about what the number actually includes rather than the implant itself — we break it down line by line in our Dublin dental implant cost guide.

The main factors are the implant brand (we use Straumann and ZimVie, formerly 3i — among the world’s most-researched implant systems), the type of crown placed on top, and the complexity of your case. Some patients need bone grafting or sinus lifts before the implant can be placed, which adds to the cost.

Then there’s the experience of the clinician. Implant placement is oral surgery, and for Docklands Dental patients it is carried out at ISCD by specialist oral surgeon Dr Marie O’Neill. The precision required to get it right — proper angle, depth, and positioning — takes years of training and thousands of cases. A cheaper quote sometimes means a less experienced practitioner or a less proven implant system. For something that’s going to be in your jaw for decades, we think that matters.

At Docklands Dental, we’re transparent about our pricing because we believe you deserve to know exactly what you’re paying for. No hidden extras. No “additional fees” that appear at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Is it cheaper to get dental implants abroad?

Headline prices abroad are lower, but the comparison is rarely like for like: flights, accommodation, time off work and any revision surgery all close the gap. Follow-up care and continuity of treatment are also significant concerns with dental tourism.

Are payment plans available for dental implants?

Yes, Docklands Dental offers flexible payment plans to spread the cost of dental implants into manageable monthly payments. Contact us to discuss options that suit your budget.
